Knowledge Sharing & Fostering Discussion

WGNV Icons_Knowledge & Discussion

WGNV shares knowledge and information about TB vaccine R&D and provides a platform for discussion on key issues, concepts, and gaps. Our activities include organizing workshops, compiling a pipeline of TB vaccine candidates in development, convening the Global Forum on TB Vaccines, and sharing resources and information via our website and mailing list.

Workshops

WGNV works with partners to organize workshops on topics of interest to TB vaccine R&D.
Check out our most recent workshops below.

Fit-for-Purpose Animal Models

January 20, 2026

This interactive online workshop seeks to explore and discuss the extent to which current animal models reflect the human spectrum, from Mtb infection to TB disease, and to consider their application to human-relevant outcomes (resistance to infection and containment of disease). Speaker and panelists will also discuss how to use these models to advance candidates from the lab to the clinic.

RECOGNITION AND CONTROL OF MTB INFECTED CELLS: FROM BASICS TO THE CLINIC

June 13 - 14, 2023

The WGNV and the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) co-hosted this workshop to address the need for correlates and to identify platforms that measure recognition or control of the infected cell - especially in humans.

Bridging the gap: Evaluating high TB burden country data needs to support the potential introduction of TB vaccines for adolescents and adults

October 6, 2023

The WGNV and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) convened this workshop to ask high burden country experts about what epidemiological, impact, feasibility and acceptability data they need to inform the introduction of new TB vaccines.

TB Vaccine Pipeline

The TB Vaccine Pipeline tracks the research and development of TB vaccine candidates through different phases of development, from pre-clinical to late-stage testing.

Global Forum on TB Vaccines

The Global Forum on TB Vaccines is the world’s largest gathering of stakeholders striving to develop new vaccines to prevent TB. It provides a unique opportunity to review the state of the field, share the latest research and findings, and identify new and innovative approaches to TB vaccine R&D, with the end goal of developing and deploying new TB vaccines as quickly as possible. To date, seven Global Forums and one virtual edition have been held, beginning with the first Global Forum in Geneva, Switzerland in 2001 (convened by WHO). The Working Group on New TB Vaccines convenes the Global Forum in collaboration with IAVI, the TuBerculosis Vaccine Initiative, and host country partner organizations.
